One of the world’s most important sporting events, the Olympic Games or the Olympics has a history that dates back more than 2,000 years.[1]

The Olympics is generally divided into Summer and Winter Games, featuring thousands of athletes from different countries. It's held every four years, with the Summer and Winter Games alternating every two years.

The last Summer Olympics was held in 2021 in Tokyo (originally supposed to be in 2020 but was delayed due to the COVID-19 pandemic). On the other hand, the last Winter Olympics was held in 2022 in Beijing.

To avoid confusion, the Olympics subsequently mentioned in this article refers to the Summer Olympics.

On July 26, 2024, the Opening Ceremony will take place in the heart of Paris. It will be the first-ever opening ceremony held outside the stadium in the history of the Summer Olympics.

Meanwhile, on August 11, 2024, the Closing Ceremony will kick off a few hours after the women’s marathon, the last event of the Olympics. This will be held at the Stade de France, France’s largest stadium. The line-up includes the closing parade of the athletes, a few speeches, and the extinguishing of the Olympic Flame.[2]
