When is the Olympics?
This year's Summer Olympics is officially called the Games of the XXXIII Olympiad but is also known as Paris 2024, as it will be held in Paris, France.
So when is the Olympics this 2024? The Paris Olympics Opening Ceremony will be on July 26, 2024. Its Closing Ceremony will be on August 11, 2024.

What Will Happen at the Olympics 2024?

Sure, the Paris Olympics is a significant occasion. But what to expect from it? What are the events?

🏅 Opening and Closing Ceremonies
On July 26, 2024, the Opening Ceremony will take place in the heart of Paris. It will be the first-ever opening ceremony held outside the stadium in the history of the Summer Olympics.
The parade of the athletes will happen on the Seine, perhaps France’s most famous river. It will then end in front of the Trocadero, with the Eiffel Tower as the backdrop.
Meanwhile, on August 11, 2024, the Closing Ceremony will kick off a few hours after the women’s marathon, the last event of the Olympics. This will be held at the Stade de France, France’s largest stadium. The line-up includes the closing parade of the athletes, a few speeches, and the extinguishing of the Olympic Flame.[2]
🏅 Games Filipino Athletes Will Participate In
The Paris Olympics will feature 329 events, 32 sports, and 10,500 athletes.
Some of the most awaited sports include basketball, gymnastics, volleyball, and swimming. Additional sports merging creativity and athletic performance will join this year’s roster of events. These include sport climbing, skateboarding, surfing, and breaking or breakdancing (debuting at the Summer Olympics).[3]
So which sports will Team Philippines participate in at the Olympics 2024? The country will send 22 athletes to France for the following:
- Track and Field - EJ Obiena for Pole Vault, John Cabang Tolentino for Men’s 110-Meter Hurdles, and Lauren Hoffman for Women’s 400-Meter Hurdles
- Swimming - Kayla Sanchez and Jarod Hatch
- Gymnastics - Carlos Yulo, Aleah Finnegan, Levi Ruivivar, and Emma Malabuyo
- Boxing - Eumir Marcial, Carlo Paalam, Nesthy Petecio, Hergie Bacdayan, and Aira Villages
- Weightlifting - Vanessa Sarno, Elreen Ando, and John Eniza
- Fencing - Samantha Catantan
- Rowing - Joanie Delgaco
- Judo - Kiyomi Watanabe
